- Severity: medium (CVSS 4.9 v2.0)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV

Description
The do_tcp_setsockopt function in net/ipv4/tcp.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.37-rc2 does not properly restrict TCP_MAXSEG (aka MSS) values, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (OOPS) via a setsockopt call that specifies a small value, leading to a divide-by-zero error or incorrect use of a signed integer.

- Linux kernel: before 2.6.37; 2.6.37, 2.6.37-rc1 — fixed in 2.6.37
- Opensuse: 11.2, 11.3
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP1: 11-sp1
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Real Time Extension: 11-sp1
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server: 11-sp1
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: Linux kernel 2.6.37. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
