- Severity: high (CVSS 7.8 v3.0)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 1.4% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: yes

- Weakness: CWE-285
Description
In fuse before versions 2.9.8 and 3.x before 3.2.5, fusermount is vulnerable to a restriction bypass when SELinux is active. This allows non-root users to mount a FUSE file system with the 'allow_other' mount option regardless of whether 'user_allow_other' is set in the fuse configuration. An attacker may use this flaw to mount a FUSE file system, accessible by other users, and trick them into accessing files on that file system, possibly causing Denial of Service or other unspecified effects.
Affected products
- Debian Linux: 8.0, 9.0
- Fuse Project Fuse: before 2.9.8; from 3.0 before 3.2.5 — fixed in 2.9.8, 3.2.5
- RedHat Enterprise Linux Desktop: 7.0
- RedHat Enterprise Linux Server: 7.0
- RedHat Enterprise Linux Workstation: 7.0
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: Fuse Project Fuse 2.9.8, 3.2.5. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
