CVE-2019-16248
- Severity: medium (CVSS 5.5 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.4% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: yes
- Published: 2019-09-11 · updated 2026-06-17
Description
The "delete for" feature in Telegram before 5.11 on Android does not delete shared media files from the Telegram Images directory. In other words, there is a potentially misleading UI indication that a sender can remove a recipient's copy of a previously sent image (analogous to supported functionality in which a sender can remove a recipient's copy of a previously sent message).
Affected products
- Telegram: before 5.11.0 — fixed in 5.11.0
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: Telegram 5.11.0. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
