- Severity: medium (CVSS 5.5 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.2% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2022-05-25 · updated 2026-06-17
- Weakness: CWE-667
Description
MariaDB Server before 10.7 is vulnerable to Denial of Service. In extra/mariabackup/ds_xbstream.cc, when an error occurs (stream_ctxt->dest_file == NULL) while executing the method xbstream_open, the held lock is not released correctly, which allows local users to trigger a denial of service due to the deadlock. Note: The vendor argues this is just an improper locking bug and not a vulnerability with adverse effects.
Affected products
- MariaDB: before 10.2.41; from 10.3.0 before 10.3.32; from 10.4.0 before 10.4.22; from 10.5.0 before 10.5.13; from 10.6.0 before 10.6.5 — fixed in 10.2.41, 10.3.32, 10.4.22, 10.5.13, 10.6.5
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: MariaDB 10.2.41, 10.3.32, 10.4.22, 10.5.13. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
