CVE-2022-50407: crypto: hisilicon/qm - increase the memory of local variables
- Severity: medium (CVSS 5.5 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.2% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known

- Weakness: CWE-674
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: hisilicon/qm - increase the memory of local variables Increase the buffer to prevent stack overflow by fuzz test. The maximum length of the qos configuration buffer is 256 bytes. Currently, the value of the 'val buffer' is only 32 bytes. The sscanf does not check the dest memory length. So the 'val buffer' may stack overflow.
Affected products
- Linux kernel: from 5.4 before 6.0.16; from 6.1 before 6.1.2 — fixed in 6.0.16, 6.1.2
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: Linux kernel 6.0.16, 6.1.2. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
