- Severity: high (CVSS 7.1 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.2% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known

- Weakness: CWE-552
Description
Use of Java's default temporary directory for file creation in `FileBackedOutputStream` in Google Guava versions 1.0 to 31.1 on Unix systems and Android Ice Cream Sandwich allows other users and apps on the machine with access to the default Java temporary directory to be able to access the files created by the class. Even though the security vulnerability is fixed in version 32.0.0, we recommend using version 32.0.1 as version 32.0.0 breaks some functionality under Windows.
Affected products
- Google Guava: before 32.0.0 — fixed in 32.0.0
- Maven Com.Google.Guava:Guava: from 1.0 before 32.0.0-android; 10.0, 10.0-rc1, 10.0-rc2, 10.0-rc3, 10.0.1, 11.0 (+96) — fixed in 32.0.0-android
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: Google Guava 32.0.0; Maven Com.Google.Guava:Guava 32.0.0-android. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
