CVE-2025-22872: Incorrect Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation in x/net in golang.org/x/net
- Severity: medium (CVSS 6.5 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.5% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2025-04-16 · updated 2026-06-17
Description
The tokenizer incorrectly interprets tags with unquoted attribute values that end with a solidus character (/) as self-closing. When directly using Tokenizer, this can result in such tags incorrectly being marked as self-closing, and when using the Parse functions, this can result in content following such tags as being placed in the wrong scope during DOM construction, but only when tags are in foreign content (e.g. <math>, <svg>, etc contexts).
Affected products
- Golang.Org/X/Net: before 0.38.0 — fixed in 0.38.0
- golang.org/x/net/html: before 0.38.0 — fixed in 0.38.0
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: Golang.Org/X/Net 0.38.0; golang.org/x/net/html 0.38.0. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
