CVE-2025-58187: Quadratic complexity when checking name constraints in crypto/x509
- Severity: high (CVSS 7.5 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.4% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2025-10-29 · updated 2026-10-08
- Weakness: CWE-407
Description
Due to the design of the name constraint checking algorithm, the processing time of some inputs scale non-linearly with respect to the size of the certificate. This affects programs which validate arbitrary certificate chains.
Affected products
- Go: before 1.24.9; from 1.25.0 before 1.25.3 — fixed in 1.24.9, 1.25.3
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: Go 1.24.9, 1.25.3. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
