- Severity: high (CVSS 7.1 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.3% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2026-10-12 · updated 2026-10-15

Description
FreeRDP before 3.0.0 and 3.6.0 before 3.32.0 renders uninitialized heap memory from un-decoded progressive tiles because the tile->current buffer is allocated without zeroing. A malicious RDP server can send a crafted WBT_TILE_FIRST then WBT_TILE_UPGRADE sequence to paint heap bytes onscreen or abort the client process.
Affected products
- FreeRDP: before 3.0.0; from 3.6.0 before 3.32.0 — fixed in 3.0.0, 3.32.0
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: FreeRDP 3.0.0, 3.32.0. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
