- Severity: high (CVSS 8.8 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.6% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2026-10-21 · updated 2026-10-22
- Weakness: CWE-122
Description
FreeRDP before 3.32.1 contains a heap-based buffer overflow in the server-side rdpsnd channel because an integer wraparound in rdpsnd_server_select_format() DVI_ADPCM block-alignment arithmetic bypasses validation. A malicious RDP client can send two SNDC_FORMATS PDUs with an nBlockAlign too small for nChannels, causing an unbounded heap write during server audio playback, potentially enabling code execution.
Affected products
- FreeRDP: before 3.32.1 — fixed in 3.32.1
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: FreeRDP 3.32.1. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
