CVE-2026-2053: Unauthenticated Server-Side Request Forgery via WS-Addressing in WSO2 API Manager
- Severity: critical (CVSS 10.0 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.4% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2026-06-26 · updated 2026-10-25
- Weakness: CWE-918
Description
The WSO2 API Manager's message flow component, when processing WS-Addressing headers, does not sufficiently validate or restrict user-controlled input within these headers. This omission allows an attacker to manipulate WS-Addressing headers to specify arbitrary destinations for server-initiated requests. Successful exploitation allows an unauthenticated attacker to control the destination of server-initiated requests originating from the WSO2 API Manager. This direct control can enable unauthorized access to internal network resources or services that would typically be inaccessible from external networks.
Affected products
- WSO2 API Manager: from 3.1.0 before 3.1.0.360; from 3.2.0 before 3.2.0.465; from 3.2.1 before 3.2.1.84; from 4.0.0 before 4.0.0.385; from 4.2.0 before 4.2.0.189 — fixed in 3.1.0.360, 3.2.0.465, 3.2.1.84, 4.0.0.385, 4.2.0.189
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: WSO2 API Manager 3.1.0.360, 3.2.0.465, 3.2.1.84, 4.0.0.385. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
