CVE-2026-40690: Apache Airflow: Assets graph view bypasses DAG level access control displaying unrelated topologies and all DAGs names to unauthorized users
- Severity: medium (CVSS 4.3 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.4% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2026-04-24 · updated 2026-10-26
- Weakness: CWE-1220
Description
The asset dependency graph did not restrict nodes by the viewer's DAG read permissions: a user with read access to at least one DAG could browse the asset graph for any other asset in the deployment and learn the existence and names of DAGs and assets outside their authorized scope. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.2.1, which fixes this issue.
Affected products
- Apache Airflow: before 3.2.1 — fixed in 3.2.1
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: Apache Airflow 3.2.1. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
