- Severity: high (CVSS 7.5 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.3% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days

Description
Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 5.2.0 until 12.3.0, Pillow's TGA RLE encoder reads past its packed row buffer when saving a mode 1 image with TGA RLE compression, allowing adjacent process heap bytes to be copied into the generated TGA file. This issue is fixed in version 12.3.0.
Affected products
- python-pillow Pillow: from 5.2.0 before 12.3.0 — fixed in 12.3.0
- Pypi Pillow: from 5.2.0 before 12.3.0; 10.0.0, 10.0.1, 10.1.0, 10.2.0, 10.3.0, 10.4.0 (+41) — fixed in 12.3.0
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: python-pillow Pillow 12.3.0; Pypi Pillow 12.3.0. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
