Description
The root-privileged `wsserver` terminal-bridge daemon builds a shell command from client-supplied WebSocket fields and passes it to `system()` and `popen()` without quoting, escaping, or character-set validation. The daemon's public-key session path performs no appliance-session check.
Summary
CVE-2026-65184 is a critical command injection flaw (CVSS 9.8) in the root-privileged wsserver terminal-bridge daemon of Vertiv Avocent ACS8000. Client-supplied WebSocket fields are passed unquoted and unvalidated to system() and popen(), and the public-key session path skips appliance-session checks, allowing unauthenticated attackers to execute commands as root. No exploitation has been reported and it is not in CISA KEV. Apply the vendor's fixed firmware for ACS8000; until then, restrict network access to the WebSocket service and avoid exposing the appliance to untrusted networks.
