CVE-2026-85172: n8n before 2.34.1 SSRF via Request Helper URI Validation Bypass
- Severity: medium (CVSS 6.4 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.3% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2026-09-03 · updated 2026-10-29
- Weakness: CWE-918
Description
n8n versions before 2.34.1 contain a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the legacy request helper function exposed to Code and Function nodes. The validation logic checks the uri property for SSRF safety while the underlying HTTP client uses the url property when both are present, allowing attackers to bypass validation by supplying a safe uri alongside a malicious url to access internal addresses.
Affected products
- n8n-io n8n: before 2.33.4; 2.34.0 (and their updates) — fixed in 2.33.4
- n8n-io n8n: from 2.34.0 before 2.34.1 — fixed in 2.34.1
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: n8n-io n8n 2.33.4; n8n-io n8n 2.34.1. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
