CVE-2026-86144
- Severity: high (CVSS 7.8 v3.1)
- Exploited in the wild: not listed in CISA KEV
- EPSS: 0.2% probability of exploitation in the next 30 days
- Public exploit or detection template: none known
- Published: 2026-09-05 · updated 2026-09-15
- Weakness: CWE-669
Description
In xinclude in libxml2 before 2.15.4, xmlXIncludeProcess and xmlXIncludeProcessTree do not propagate parseFlags. This has security relevance for, for example, the XML_PARSE_NONET flag, if (without it) a custom resource loader accesses the internet and triggers XML external entity injection, SSRF, or a denial of service (e.g., for an attacker-controlled internet resource that is intentionally slow).
Affected products
- xmlsoft libxml2: before 2.15.4 — fixed in 2.15.4
How to fix
Upgrade to a fixed version: xmlsoft libxml2 2.15.4. Check the vendor advisory for mitigations.
